Daniel is Director of the Editorial Creative Media department at the New England Journal of Medicine, where he manages a team of medical illustrators, data visualization designers, an audio engineer, and a software developer. He also continues to create figures, interactive graphics, and 2D animations. An active member of the Association of Medical Illustrators (AMI), he currently serves as Chair of the Board. In 2018, he was elected a Fellow of the AMI and received its Outstanding Service Award. Daniel holds a Master of Arts in Medical and Biological Illustration from Johns Hopkins University as a Fulbright Scholar and a degree in Biology/Zoology from the University of Lisbon.
